Kumalo Sports Club extended their impressive run in the Gulu DFA 4th Division League with a captivating 2-1 comeback victory over Gulu City FC Lacor. Oscar Lubangakene was the hero for Kumalo Sports Club, netting both goals in the second half to secure all three points and maintain their momentum in the league.
Oscar Lubangakene’s first goal sparked dramatic scenes as Gulu City FC Lacor vehemently contested the decision, arguing that the ball had not crossed the goal line. However, the referee’s call stood firm as he was the final officiating authority for the match. Despite the protest, the decision remained unchallenged.
Speaking after the match, team captain Brian Acire praised his squad’s fighting spirit. “We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we trusted each other and stayed focused. Oscar’s goals were phenomenal and the entire team deserves credit for this win,” he said.
On the same day, Gulu City FC Lacor expressed their intent to challenge Kumalo Sports Club’s victory. Speaking with the match commissioner from the Gulu DFA, the team vowed to formally petition their case, aiming to overturn the result of the match.
In response, Ivan Oyo, Chief Executive Officer of Kumalo Sports Club, stated that the club is fully prepared to defend their victory. Oyo emphasized that they will challenge the petition if summoned by the Gulu DFA,
