Kumalo Sports Club Crowned Champions of Dong Acoli Cup First Edition.

Kumalo Sports Club were crowned champions of the inaugural Dong Acoli Cup 2025, edging past Airfield United 4-3 in a tense penalty shootout following a hard-fought goalless draw in regular time.

Kumalo Sports Club dominated the Dong Acoli Cup final but couldn’t score in regular time, goalkeeper Bosco Ojara saved two penalties, securing victory and the best Goalkeeper award.

Captain Brian Acire Aduga urged community support, promising consistent and winning performances ahead.

Latim Arnold Obita, captain of Airfield United FC, praised his team for reaching their first final, promising better performance ahead.

Head coach Francis Ochora credited Kumalo Sports Club’s success to discipline, teamwork, determination and strong sportsmanship shown throughout the tournament.

Gulu District Football Association Head of Competitions, Watmon Samuel, pledged full support for future edition of the Dong Acoli Cup.

Bishop Peter Julius Oyet, founder of Lifeline Ministry and the Dong Acoli Foundation, announced that future edition of the tournament will begin at the sub-county and district levels with winners advancing to grand finale at Pece Stadium.

The tournament marked a milestone for grassroots football in Acholi blending sport, unity and community growth.
