Victory After Victory: Kumalo Sports Club Holds Firm at the Top

Kumalo Sports Club is back in the news after an impressive 4-1 victory over St. Phillip Football Club in Gulu DFA 4th Division League encounter held last Saturday at Gulu High School Football Pitch.

Nelson Okot Mandela opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a brilliant one-versus-one finish, giving Kumalo an early lead. Just six minutes later, Nyeko Jimmy doubled the advantage with a clinical strike,putting Kumalo firmly in control.

As the first half progressed, Andrew Odong added to the lead with a well-placed tap-in just over the goalkeepers head making it 0-3.However, St Phillip’s striker,Onen Rogers pulled one back with a consolation goal bringing the score to 1-3 at the break

The second half saw a dramatic turn of events when Ocaya James of St. Phillip was shown a red card in the 68th minute after receiving a second yellow for a foul on Raymond Ocaya.

Kumalo Sports Club winger Oscar Rubangakene sealed the win with a clinical strike in the 70th minute,cementing a dominant 4-1 victory.

Francis Ochora, head coach of Kumalo Sports Club, praised both the players and the club administration for their excellent teamwork and urged the squad to keep building on their winning momentum.

Kumalo Sports Club now sits at the top of the table with 18 points, closely followed by Gulu City FC Lacor with 16 points. Gulu Winterburry FC holds third place with 12 points,while St.Phillip FC rounds out the top four with 11 points

Kumalo Sports Club is set to host National Youth Soccer Club on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 3:00 PM at their home ground, Pageya Primary School
