St Joseph’s College Layibi battled to a hard-fought goalless draw against reigning Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Gulu City and Acholi Sub-region,2025 champions , Bishop Angelo Negri College, in a tense inter-school clash played today at the Gulu School Of Clinical Officers

The first 15 minutes saw a balanced contest with both sides performing evenly

Towards the end of the first half, St Joseph’s College Layibi dominated with constant attacks, forcing Bishop Angelo Negri College Captain Denis Kitara to be booked for a foul..

In the second half, Layibi continued to push for a breakthrough, creating several chances but were repeatedly denied by a solid defensive display and an impressive performance from the Negri goalkeeper.

While speaking to fans, many expressed the belief that the two sides are the main title contenders.

According to Ojara Bosco, Goalkeeping coach, Bishop Angelo Negri College, believes his team has what it takes to retain the championship.

St Joseph’s College Layibi, head coach, Ochora Francis, praised his players effort and discipline, urging them to aim for better results in their upcoming game.

St Joseph’s College Layibi will next face Bethel S.S on 18.03.2026 in their second Group B fixture, scheduled for 3:00 PM at Gulu High School East Playing Ground.
