Football fans in Gulu witnessed history on Sunday, 28th September 2025, as Kumalo Sports Club lifted the maiden Gulu DFA Super Cup first edition , defeating Gulu University 2–1 in a pulsating final at the School of Clinical Officers football pitch..

The crowd erupted in the 26th minute when Andrew Odong opened the scoring for Kumalo. Latching onto a brilliant through pass from new signing Onekalit Geoffrey, Odong made no mistake with a composed finish that sent fans into wild celebration. The goal gave Kumalo the upper hand at the break, leaving Gulu University chasing the game
After halftime, Kumalo piled relentless pressure on their opponents, and their determination paid off in the 63rd minute. Yona Opiyo, who later scooped the Man of the Match award, unleashed a thunderous strike that doubled the lead and had the Kumalo faithful on their feet.

Speaking after the match, Papira Anthony, General Secretary of the Gulu DFA, praised Kumalo for their achievement: “They will forever be remembered as the pioneers of this great tournament.
